First run in 1910 - the Kop Hill Climb is one of the UK's oldest motorsport's events.
We usually bring along some noisy RSR Porsche models for a crack up the hill, but ever since we had the idea to launch the BBB4X4 enterprise to compete in the Morocco Desert Challenge with our own purpose built vehicle - our local hill climb was a must attend shakedown.
In isolation a narrow bumpy country tarmac road is not an accurate simulation for the conditions we shall encounter in the plains and dunes of Africa, but it certainly gave us and a number of guests an insight to the performance potential of a 7 litre Chevrolet LS1 powered off road buggy!
We have still a fair amount of suspension, steering and braking refinements to undertake to get the Buggy to be race ready for the desert, but we have learnt that given a sufficient amount of throttle - there is enough stomp to pull wheelies from a standing start - which should help over the dunes :)
Next run will be at the Millbrook off-road proving ground in December when we hope to have made some progress to enable us to arrive at a competitive off-road base set up.
